Contest: Name a Band, Get a Role

My upcoming book, Back Door Man, features a struggling band, currently named Hope Flings A Turtle, and a few readers have suggested a different name. If YOU suggest the name I use, I’ll include YOUR NAME in the acknowledgements AND as a minor character in the book, which will appear late in 2018. You will also receive a signed copy of the book.

The story takes place in 2012 and is the sixth in my Zach Barnes PI series set around Hartford, Connecticut. It involves Barnes investigating a five-year- old cold case in which five people were murdered in their home. It involves most of the regular cast in lead roles.

The band features Trisha Straithorne (a major character) as lead singer and occasional keyboards; Donovan Markus on guitar, keys, and vocals; Freddy Ross on percussion; and Nick Travis on bass. They play a mix of old blues, folk, country and rock (call them Americana) and are struggling to write their own material.
The band plays the old Chicago blues classic by Howlin’ Wolf “Back Door Man” during the book. It’s also how the killer seems to have entered the house before killing everyone. There’s a third meaning, too.

To submit a name, email steveliskow @ gmail.com and suggest the band name. Include your own name and email, too. This contest will close on SUNDAY APRIL 15, 2018. I’ll notify the winner by May 1, 2018 and arrange for the character name and delivery details.
